“In the note, the boy, who studied in a private school, sought an apology from his mother and said that he is ending his life due to depression. It mentioned that he had withdrawn Rs 40,000 from her UPI account and wasted the money on the ‘Free Fire’ game,” he said.

Police officials said that The boy’s father runs a pathology lab while his mother works in a district hospital as a nurse, On Friday when his mother was in the hospital, she received a message of transaction alert from her account She enquired with her son over phone and scolded him for spending money on the online game. Later the boy hanged himself in a locked room, After some time, his elder sister found that he was not opening the door and informed her parents about it, Later, when the door of the room was broken by his parents, the boy was found hanging from the ceiling fan using a scarf, police officials said.

According to the report, the police were investigating if it was the boy himself who made the transactions or someone else has threatened him into doing it.

In January 2021, there is a similar case in India in which a 12-year-old boy named Sagar hanged himself because his father took his phone due to addiction to the “Free fire” game…The child used a towel to hang himself in a room at his home, while his mother was cooking in another room, the official said. after the incident, the boy’s father appeals to the government to ban this type of game.
