Jonathan Joseph James was an American Grey hat hacker who was born on 12 December 1983 Jonathan was the first juvenile incarcerated for cybercrime in the United States. Jonathan Joseph James is part of the history books as the first teen cracker being sentenced for cybercrime……

In 1999, at the age of 16, he gained access to 1.3 Million computers by breaking the password of a NASA server and stole the source code of the International Space Station, including control of the temperature and humidity within the living space. NASA shut down all of its systems for there weeks to find data breach an action that would cost them $ 41,000 in repairs and losses. He did all of this at only 15 years old and was sentenced to 6 months in juvenile detention. However, his detainment did little to impede his efforts.

and in August 1999, Jonathan had already cracked the systems of the great telecom company BellSouth, the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and the Miami-Dade school system, but that would cause the authorities would ignite, would be an intrusion to the computers of the Department of Defense of the United States in the Pentagon.

That 15-year-old boy had found a backdoor on the servers in Dulles, Virginia, where he installed a sniffer that allowed him to spy and managed thousands of calls and messages…..After several weeks of investigation, DOD agents, NASA, and the Miami Police Department were finally ordered to enter Jonathan’s home and catch him, James’s house was a raid on January 26, 2000, by agents from the DOD NASA and the Miami Police Department…

James was sentenced to seven months’ house arrest and probation until the age of eighteen and was required to write letters of apology to NASA and the DOD. He was also banned from using computers for any purpose. since being a minor was impossible to apply other types of charges, and also computer crimes were not yet Fully typified in the united states law. It is estimated that if Jonathan had grown up he would have been able to reach a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of several thousand dollars for damages.

Later Jonathan should give an interview and said — — “The government did not have too many security measures on most of their computers, they lack real computer security, and the most complicated part is that they realize it.” I know Unix and C like the palm of my hand, and This is because I have studied a lot of books and I have been stuck to a computer all this time. The difficult part is not to enter, this is about learning and really knowing what is being done.

On January 17, 2007, department store chain TJX was the victim of a massive computer system that compromised the personal and credit information of millions of customers, and that attack was held by friends of Jonathan but according to Jonathan, he was not involved in this attack…..On May 18, 2008, Jonathan James was found dead in his shower with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His suicide was allegedly motivated by the belief that he would be prosecuted for crimes he had not committed….he has written a suicide note in which he said — “I honestly, honestly had nothing to do with TJX,” — — “I have no faith in the ‘justice system. Perhaps my actions today, and this letter, will send a stronger message to the public. Either way, I have lost control over this situation, and this is my only way to regain control

James’ father remembers his son as a passionate computer geek, who started playing with the family PC at the age of 6 and switched his own computer from Windows to Linux in middle school. Before the NASA raid in January 2000, Robert James and his wife would frequently battle their son over his computer use, which would stretch late into the night.

According to me, it was a murder, not a suicide — —
